About Us
Chelsea and Fulham Tutors was founded by Clare Pelham and Alison Brunton.
Clare is a mother of three children who have successfully navigated day and boarding school admissions, with one each at Eton, St Paul’s and Latymer Upper. After a first career as an intellectual property lawyer with an Ivy League degree in Engineering Physics, she provides advice on schools and universities.
Alison, a mother of two boys who attended day and boarding schools in South West London and Surrey, previously worked in IT, finance and executive recruitment. She manages the accounts, online database and recruitment to match students with tutors.
Our Approach
We believe that there is more to education than league tables and public exam results. Our approach takes a long term view. Choice of school and university must be tailored to the individual and his or her particular interests and strengths. A happy child is one who will fulfil his or her potential.
We are unique among agencies for several reasons:
Parents’ Perspective: Chelsea & Fulham Tutors is one of the few agencies run by parents who have experienced the British education system first hand. As London parents we have more than 20 years of experience with schools and universities.
Our approach: Our agency offers a bespoke personal service where we answer all inquiries ourselves , not through support staff, and are available every day and hour of the week. We are an award winning agency highly recommended by the Good Schools Guide. Most of our clients are so impressed with our services that they have been with us for many years. Our high success rate for school and university admissions speaks for itself.
Our tutors: Our tutors are of the highest caliber, personable and results driven. We personally vet all the tutors with a long interview process including checking references and qualifications and ensuring that they have recent enhanced DBS checks.
Our fees: Chelsea & Fulham Tutors is a virtual company so are able to offer the lowest commission rates of all the top agencies and no registration fees. Our fee structure enables us to attract the best tutors available.
We only introduce tutors we would hire for our own children.
Chelsea & Fulham Tutors is delighted to support the charity Doorstep Library:
Volunteers work in pairs, carrying a rucksack full of books, and small stools to sit on. They visit each family once a week during term-time, read stories with the children and lend them books to exchange the following week. Doorstep emphasises the fun element, and uses the power of stories to let the children generate their own interest, which is the most effective motivation for learning.
The charity currently runs five Doorstep Libraries in Hammersmith & Fulham, and three in Westminster. They are starting more projects in these boroughs, plus have plans to start in Lambeth, Edgware Road, Shepherd’s Bush and Tulse Hill in 2018.
“Doorstep Library is a beautifully run charity – concerned as much for its volunteers as for the children and families it serves.”
